Existing Well Certification -
For wells not used within a 12 month period, the VCWRD requires either destruction of the well, reactivation of the well, or application for a Certificate of Exemption.
Well Performance/Pump Tests -
ACS performs step-drawdown and constant rate pump tests as required by the client or the local agency. The purpose of the pump test is twofold; firstly, to demonstrate to the local agency that the well is a viable water supply, and secondly, to satisfy the local agency's requirements for the well to be considered active. To analyze the step-drawdown pump testing results, ACS utilizes the pump test analysis software package known as StepMaster™, which was created by Starpoint Software. To determine the coefficient of transmissivity of the water-bearing media, ACS utilizes the Eden-Hazel best-fit slope analysis method. To determine the coefficient of storage (or storativity), ACS utilizes the Birsoy-Summers graphing method. To estimate the hydraulic conductivity of the water-bearing media immediately surrounding the subject well, ACS utilizes the Hantush Modified Theis Type Curve. After the pump test is completed, a report detailing the scope of work completed and the conclusions of the test data are submitted to the local agency. The report includes a description of the scope of work performed, graphic illustrations (Arithmetic Graphs, Step-Drawdown Determination Graphs, Eden-Hazel Transmissivity Graphs, Birsoy-Summers Graphs, Distance-Drawdown Graphs), a summary of the test results, a description of aquifer properties identified, and a recommended yield for the well being tested.
Wellhead Protection Demonstration Program -
Project Manager and lead hydrogeologist for a local special water district implementing a wellhead protection demonstration program founded by Assembly Bill 303 and administered by the State of California Department of Water Resources. Project is to inventory, identify, and destroy abandoned water wells impacting groundwater quality.
